Commonwealth Lodging adds five Virginia hotels

Commonwealth Lodging Management LLC has added five new hotels in Virginia to its management portfolio in the past month.

“We are excited to onboard several new owner clients and over 100 new associates at these hotels,” said Duane Gauthier, managing director, Commonwealth Lodging. “Our leadership team is committed to providing a uniquely positive work environment for our staff who deliver genuine hospitality to guests in our hotels. The result is a win-win for associates, guests, and investors.”

The five hotels spanning four properties are:

SpringHill Suites by Marriott Richmond North/Glen Allen: A 136-room hotel located near Interstate 95 in the north side of the Richmond, VA. market. This hotel was built in 2001 and will undergo a complete modernization, updating all guestrooms, the lobby and the amenities to Marriott’s latest design standards for SpringHill Suites.
Hampton by Hilton Richmond West/Innsbrook: This 136-room hotel is located in the Innsbrook office park close to Short Pump Mall. Recently renovated, this property features Hampton’s latest room design and has a history as one of the most desirable hotels in Innsbrook, according to the company.
Sleep Inn and Quality Suites Norfolk Airport/Lake Wright: This dual-branded property, with 234 total rooms and 5,200 sq. ft. of event space, is located adjacent to the Premium Outlet Mall and the airport in Norfolk, VA. The property will undergo a property improvement plan (PIP) to meet the latest brand standards, including updates to the lobby, guestrooms, meeting space and pool.
Holiday Inn Richmond West: Anticipated to open in March 2024, this 141-room hotel will feature a Toast-to-Toast café and bar, 2,000 sq. ft. of event space, an indoor pool and an outdoor patio with fire pits. Commonwealth Lodging will manage the recruitment of the onsite leadership team and will oversee all preopening sales and operations.

Ed Denton, chief development officer, Commonwealth Lodging, said, “The addition of these hotels to our portfolio signifies a significant expansion of our Virginia footprint, aligning with our strategy to provide value-added services for investors seeking diversity, cash flow, and long-term appreciation with hospitality assets.”

Recently purchased by Matan Companies, Deepwater Industrial Park is comprised of two Class A industrial buildings spanning 220,527 square feet. This achievement highlights the expertise of our Property Management and Tenant Services teams as they continue to solidify our relationship with Matan Companies.

Spectra Services leased 9,000 square feet at 12662 Bermuda Triangle Road in Chesterfield. Ben Bruni, SIOR and David Williams represented the landlord.

Frith, Anderson, Peake PC leased 1,869 square feet at 4198 Cox Road in Henrico. Eric Hammond and Russell Wyatt represented the landlord and Jamie Galanti and Eliza Izard represented the tenant.

Civica Foundation purchased 9.4 acres at 9401 Courthouse Road in Chesterfield County for $795,400 from Economic Development Authority of the County of Chesterfield. Ben Bruni, SIOR and Carl Blackwell represented the buyer.

Nallapaneni Consultants leased 1,617 square feet at 4510 Cox Road in Henrico. Eric Hammond, Russell Wyatt and Eliza Izard represented the landlord and Tucker Dowdy represented the tenant.

HNTB Corp. leased 2,075 square feet at 4510 Cox Road in Henrico. Eric Hammond, Russell Wyatt and Eliza Izard represented the landlord.

HG Real Estate purchased 68 acres at 4579 Old Fredericksburg Road in Goochland County for $700,000 from Guza Investments. C. Ryan Fanelli and Joe Buhrman represented the seller and Brent Altaffer and Randy Cosby represented the buyer.
