Experience

Coleman joined Commonwealth’s Retail Sales & Leasing Team in January 2025. He brings extensive professional experience in all aspects of commercial real estate sales and leasing.

Prior to joining Commonwealth, Coleman specialized in industrial and retail real estate. While representing landlords, he facilitated transactions with notable retail tenants such as Ross, Five Below, DTLR, and T-Mobile, and industrial tenants such as ABC Construction and Supply, Fastenal, and ESS Technologies. Before shifting his focus to brokerage, Coleman began his commercial real estate career in property management.

What Matters

What separates a good deal from a great one?

A good deal works today. A great deal keeps working. It comes down to structure, flexibility, and whether there’s real upside down the road. The best deals are the ones that still make sense a few years in, not just on day one.

How do you help clients see opportunities others might miss?

A lot of it comes from seeing both sides. I’ve worked with landlords, tenants, and developers, so I’m usually looking at how a deal can be approached a little differently. Sometimes it’s identifying a use others didn’t think of, or just knowing the right tenant or buyer to bring into the mix.

What makes Commonwealth Commercial different from other firms?

It’s a very team-oriented group. You’re not working in a box; we’re pulling from different specialties across retail, industrial, office, and management to give clients a more complete view. It leads to better decisions and better execution.

What do you enjoy most about the communities you work in?

I enjoy seeing how different markets across Virginia are growing in their own way. From Richmond to Blacksburg to my hometown of Fredericksburg, each area has its own drivers, and being part of that growth, whether it’s helping bring in new businesses or reposition properties, is what makes the work meaningful.
