Ken Strickler, President & CEO, Named to Virginia 500 Power List

Following the May retirement of Commonwealth founder and former CEO Mark Claud, Strickler became the head of the 30-year-old commercial real estate company. Strickler’s promotion came shortly after Commonwealth Commercial Partners rebranded to Commonwealth in April, a move meant to reinvigorate its brand identity and unite all its lines of service into a single integrated platform. Before his promotion, he had served as Commonwealth’s president since 2016.

Strickler joined Commonwealth in 2005 as an assistant property manager and later became the director of asset management and investments in 2008. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics from Hampden-Sydney College.

Founded in 1996, Commonwealth has more than 225 employees and operates in 14 states, managing more than 24 million square feet of real estate. The company’s services include property management, sales and leasing, lodging management and investments, as well as land, farm and forestry advisory work. In February, the company closed on Greenbrier Business Center, a 93,000-square-foot flex industrial park in Chesapeake, for $11 million. In June, Strickler said he wanted to continue “the company’s evolution as an innovative, industry-leading firm in the dynamic commercial real estate market.”
