It’s easy to overlook. We head to rivers and lakes, the woods, and marshes without taking the time to realize, that for all the wild places, there are organizations and individuals dedicated to protecting them.

There are people who wake every morning thinking about preserving habitat, protecting species, how to get more young people interested in the outdoors, and ensure there are wild places for the public to enjoy.

Jim McVey is one of those people, although he is not one to brag about it or draw attention to himself or the efforts he has made to protect the hunting tradition in Virginia and ensure that it is passed on to the next generation.
