What Matters

How does Commonwealth add value beyond a typical brokerage relationship?

We take a long-term approach and value building relationships.  We aren’t just focused on the transaction at hand, but building long-term value for the client.

What’s a property or project you’ve worked on that you’re especially proud of?

Well, I have been fortunate to have played a part in some really interesting developments and projects—two that come to mind are the site selection and relocation of GRTC out of the Fan District, and the site selection for Stone Brewing in the East End.  Both were highly complex assignments where the real estate was just one, albeit important, part of the work.  And both have had a profound impact on our City.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from a deal that stuck with you?

Always do the right thing, and you will never have regrets and you can hold your head high. Reputation and integrity are all that you have in this business at the end of the day—you spend a career building that, and if you don’t prioritize honesty and ethical action, you can ruin it in a minute.

What do you enjoy most about working at Commonwealth?

I love what I do and find it very rewarding—so that’s a tough question.  I care deeply about our people and I want them to succeed in work (and in life).  As a manager of many people, I find it extremely rewarding to engage with them—hear how they are doing, celebrate a win, talk through a challenge, help develop a new strategy—all of it.  But most rewarding would have to be bringing young people into our business, teaching and coaching, and ultimately seeing them succeed in a business that is exciting, rewarding, and has been very good to me.
