Sam Cottrell joins Commonwealth Commercial with a decade of experience in sales and a strong passion for building meaningful, long-term relationships. He joined Commonwealth to begin his career in commercial real estate, bringing his sales experience, competitive drive, and client-focused approach to the industry.

Prior to joining Commonwealth, Sam has spent the past 10 years in a sales role of some kind. His previous ventures included working in the moving and storage business giving him a broad understanding of office tenant relocation, while working with landlords, property managers, buyers and sellers alike from all industries. Before working in the moving and storage business, Sam led a two year long entrepreneurial project, gathering investors and raising money towards a 12 million dollar Pickleball concept. This concept fell under the “EATertainment” industry as it was going to be a high scale restaurant and bar with live music and outdoor area to bring your pets. This experience helped Sam gain insight into both the buyer and seller side of commercial real estate.

Sam is actively involved in the Richmond business community through his membership with the Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE) and his service on the Junior Board of the Commonwealth Club. He is committed to continuing to grow his professional network and becoming a trusted resource for clients and colleagues throughout the Richmond market.

Outside of work, Sam is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time outdoors fishing and hunting. He also enjoys staying active and spending time with friends and family and his new daughter Stella.
